Introducing Your 3D World

Introducing the tools and work required to produce a 3D game. After a short introduction you'll immediately get started creating your own 3D landscape with hills, mountains and then see how it looks through the eyes of your in game character.

 
     
     
Object Oriented Design

Introducing you to the role of programming we take a look at object oriented design techniques. These concepts can help you design and produce flexible and reusable components for almost anything including your computer games.

 
     
     
 
Events & Triggers

Your game worlds become more interactive with the use of events and triggers. Create more dramatic events using explosions and avalanches, all complete with sound effects.

     
     
 
Lighting

You will experience first hand how lighting can add be used to add atmosphere to your worlds. Here the in-game tutorial shows you how to set up the lighting and illuminate the underground cave world of Kaflinia.

     
     
Story Telling

You will want to provide your player with a rich interactive gaming experience to capture their imagination and give them entertaining game play. We look at the theory behind good story telling and consider how to adapt stories to provide your player with rewarding quests and objectives.

 
     
     
Interactive Objects

The game assets include a very flexible set of interactive components to use with objects in your game world. Use them to create objects your player can pick up, combine and use to solve a wide range of challenges and puzzles.

 
     
     
 
3D Modelling

Create your first 3D Model for your game world using the Milkshape 3D software. We’ve selected this application for you because it’s simple to use and is great value for your money, use it free of charge for thirty days (requires separate purchase)

     
     
 
3D Animation

An introduction to animation is included showing you how to work with bone structures to give your game character different movements. This could be a whole course in itself, here we give you an appreciation of the basics and you get to try it for yourself.

     
     
Linking Worlds

Your game takes on new dimensions as you link your worlds together and create an exciting journey for your player to set off on. The Interactive Framework included with the course makes this an easy task using colour coded objects that are invisible in your game.

 
     
     
Defence & Attack

Your player comes under attack but we level the playing field a little with the addition of a spell casting weapon. In the darkest passages blue energy spheres illuminate the way before unleashing their explosive energy.

 
     
     
 
Game Logic

Simulate the real world and set objectives for your player to solve using interactive game logic. Learn how to easily design and create complex interactions using the 'Interactive Framework' included with the course material.

Give your game the professional look an feel it deserves with game menus and background music. Easily created with the included menu set. Just edit the graphics to provide your game Intro, Briefing and Control screens.
